La inspección se realiza en las instalaciones del fabricante, pues es donde los productos acaban de embalarse, en ocasiones suele hacerse en una bodega de almacenamiento, sin embargo, se recomienda hacerlo en la planta donde se hacen los productos para ver los tipos de defectos, sus procesos, etc, para corregir los errores y mejorar el trabajo.
Se recomienda que un tercero realice la inspección, pues no es aconsejable confiar en el proveedor puesto que puede tener sus propios intereses en mente al informar o no sobre los problemas, lo mismo pasa con el personal interno, para evitar conflictos puede evadir los errores del producto o procesos.
